Check your text for AI.
Paste at least 10 words or upload a file. Nota checks whether your writing looks AI-written and gives you a result in plain English.
AI detectors can make mistakes. A result cannot prove who wrote something, and results under 50 words are often wrong. Nota’s AI check reads up to the first 1,024 tokens — small pieces of words — so longer documents may only be checked at the beginning. See how it works.

Questions people ask
Is this AI detector free?
Yes. You can try a check without an account. A free account gives you 2,000 words a day, with no card needed. Paid plans add more words, file batches, downloadable reports and API access.
Can Nota make mistakes?
Yes. Human writing can look AI-written, and AI writing can go undetected. In our 27 Sep 2026 test, Nota wrongly flagged 0.033% of human texts of 250 words or more — about 1 in 3,000. That describes the test set, not the chance that your result is wrong. Each result shows available testing information for the model used. See the numbers.
Can it tell which AI wrote something?
No. Nota checks whether writing resembles AI examples it learned from. It cannot identify a particular AI tool or prove who wrote the text.
Why did I get no score?
Nota needs at least 10 words. Add more of your writing and try again. Error rates have only been measured for texts of 250 words or more.
Can Nota check a short paragraph?
Yes, from 10 words, but short results are often wrong. In our test, about 1 in 3 human texts under 50 words was wrongly read as AI. At 250 words or more, our main test found about 1 in 3,000. When you can, check a longer piece of the same writing. See the numbers.
Do you keep what I paste?
Signed-in checks save the result and a document fingerprint. Including the text in your saved report is optional. Batch and web checks temporarily hold the text while queued or running; web checks also send short passages to search providers. Privacy details.
Another detector flagged my own writing. What now?
Keep your drafts, notes and version history, and talk to the person reviewing your work. A detector result cannot prove who wrote something. Nota’s writing history tool can help you collect more context where it is available. How to show how you wrote it.
